To Build Up A Wireless and Seamless World

My Curriculum Vitae is available here (CV)

Bio: "I saw the time machine in my dad’s Lab”. When I was a child, I often boasted of my experience in my father’s laboratory. In my eyes, my father was a “superman” who could help the world through his inventions, and I swore to myself I would be that “superman” too in one day. With my “superman” dream, I am always so curious about mystery and uncertainty, and I am always so eager to create. When I was 5, I detached my mother’s radio to find what was inside and made a  sound; I assembled my first toy car in grade four and used it to achieve the “fast-car” honor in my class; I coded my first computer game with VB and used it to entertain my friends when I was 12.

I grew up in an age when the cell phones became popular in China. I witnessed how the little devices changed people’s life significantly. The small magic boxes managed to reduce the distance from one to another by satisfying people’s need for communicating their information and emotion anytime and anywhere. The fast information exchange rate also pushed the whole human society to move forward at an unprecedented high speed. After experiencing this marvelous evolution, I began to envision a world in which all objects are connected wirelessly and seamlessly. In that world, everything has its own identification that can be recognized by the RFID; in that world, all power consumed by electronic devices are charged wirelessly through electromagnetic wave; also in that world, information will be unprecedentedly abundant due to the ubiquitous wireless sensor network.

With this proposal, I chose information engineering as my major after entering Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In my three years undergraduate time, I try a lot to absorb new knowledge, to learn new problem-solving methods, and to master new skills. In this process, I found my extreme interest in the applied electromagnetic because I believed I have found the key to my imaginary world and an opportunity to achieve my “superman” dream.

I move faster after finding my direction. I began to do the researches on designing antennas, couplers, power divider and etc. With solid foundations, creative thinking and keen interests to applied electromagnetic. I achieved a lot in one year’s research (One paper accepted, one paper and one proposal submitted). Such achievements, in turn, push me forward by providing me a sense of accomplishment. However, after one year’s research on applied electromagnetic, I found just a bachelor degree is not enough for me to pursue my dream. I need a place to learn new knowledge, a place to conduct research and a place to convert my abundant new ideas into concrete objects. So I decide to pursue a Ph.D. degree.  In that process, I will try what I can to absorb knowledege, to fully utilize my imagination and creativity. In the future, I may become a professor, or I may become a engineer. Yet no matter what profession I am, I will fight for my dream: Build up a wireless and seamless world.
